Manager / Marketer / Event Planner / Budgeter

My sorority, Sigma Pi Theta, celebrates Women’s History Month each year with HerStory. Holding this position was extremely fulfilling, as my team hosted events on campus to celebrate femininity in any form, as well as create awareness for women who are struggling. We partnered with On the Rise Inc., a shelter in Cambridge, MA, raising money for the organization with the funds from our HerStory formal held at the end of the month. Dr. Zhana Vrangalova, an NYU professor and sex researcher, also worked with us to deliver a discussion on healthy sex culture within college campuses. I also reached out to Adam & Eve, HausWitch, and Diva Cup to sponsor the formal, and each company donated products for us to give away as raffle prizes. Collaborating with each of these organizations allowed me to improve my professional communication skills and understand the importance of relationship building.

In addition to working with other companies, this role included booking event spaces, organizing fundraising, writing a budget, and creating/promoting our events. My goal with the promotion and nature of these events was to establish a more inclusive HerStory month that highlighted the importance of intersectionality and mental health.
